1. “Whoever you are and whatever you have done, you can be forgiven.”
-Jeffrey R. Holland, “We Are All Enlisted” Oct. 2011 Priesthood Session
2. “Each of us has a loving Father in Heaven. Through the Father’s redeeming plan, those who may stumble and fall ‘are not cast off forever.’”
-Boyd K. Packer, “I Will Remember Your Sins No More” April 2006 General Conference
3. “And so we understand that the Atonement of Jesus Christ gives us the opportunity to overcome the spiritual death that results from sin and, through making and keeping sacred covenants, to have the blessings of eternal life.”
-Dallin H. Oaks, “Teachings of Jesus” Oct. 2011 Sunday PM Session
4. “It is the miracle of forgiveness; it is the miracle of the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. But you cannot do it without an active commitment to the gospel, and you cannot do it without repentance where it is needed. I am asking you young men to be active and be clean. If required, I am asking you to get active and get clean.”
-Jeffrey R. Holland, “We Are All Enlisted” Oct. 2011 Priesthood Session
5. “Repentance is a divine gift, and there should be a smile on our faces when we speak of it. It points us to freedom, confidence, and peace. Rather than interrupting the celebration, the gift of repentance is the cause for true celebration.”
-D. Todd Christofferson, “The Divine Gift of Repentance” Oct. 2011 Sunday PM Session
6. "To be redeemed is to be atoned—received in the close embrace of God with an expression not only of His forgiveness, but of our oneness of heart and mind. What a privilege!"
-Russell M. Nelson, "The Atonement" Oct. 1996 General Conference
7. "There is no greater expression of love than the heroic Atonement performed by the Son of God. Were it not for the plan of our Heavenly Father, established before the world began, in a very real sense, all mankind—past, present, and future—would have been left without the hope of eternal progression."
-M. Russell Ballard, "The Atonement and the Value of One Soul" April 2004 General Conference
8. "...our understanding of and faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ will provide strength and capacity needed for a successful life. It will also bring confidence in times of trial and peace in moments of turmoil."
-Richard G. Scott, "He Lives! All Glory to His Name!" April 2010 General Conference
9. "We all make mistakes. Sometimes we harm ourselves and seriously injure others in ways that we alone cannot repair. We break things that we alone cannot fix. It is then in our nature to feel guilt and humiliation and suffering, which we alone cannot cure. That is when the healing power of the Atonement will help."
-Boyd K. Packer, "The Touch of the Master's Hand" April 2001 General Conference
10. "By understanding and believing in the Atonement personally, you and I can teach and testify of the Atonement with greater gratitude, greater love, and greater power."
-Neal A. Maxwell, "Testifying of the Great and Glorious Atonement" April 2002 Liahona
Why This Matters:
Along with the blessing of being placed on this earth, Heavenly Father gave us another gift--more precious and encompassing than we could ever imagine. He gave us the gift of His Son's Atonement. With this, we are able to reach past all of our mistakes, shortcomings, misgivings... With it, we move past these things to reach the fullest and highest of our potential. The Savior suffered for us, individually, so we don't have to. Can I live up to that gift?
